MT. WILSON FROM SIERRA MADRE

I've been to Mt Wilson numerous times mainly from Chantry Flats but it's been closed since the Bobcat Fire in 2000.

Today was a first for me starting from the Mt Wilsin trail near Lizzies Inn.

I starred at 7am. The day was overcast which was perfect because I was planning on a hot day..

The trail is fairly easy up to Orchard Camp. I've also been to Orchard Camp a few times but never beyond it.

I was prepared for the steep climb.

However, as I was appriaching the first switchback i was startled by a naked guy coming down the trail.

In all my years of hiking I had never encountered a nude hiker.

Anyways, I continued on the steep ascent and it was so beautiful that I forgot about the grueling ascent.

The trail was gorgeous. Beautiful views, shady trees, wildflowers and a spring along the way.

The beautiful ridge and rock outcroppings along the way were amazing.

I was above the clouds the entire way. I chose the perfect day for hiking.

Once I approached the road, I opted for the steep shortcut which was just as beautiful.

At the summit, it was quite chilly but it didn't bother me. I was still above the clouds and ate my peanut and butter sandwich on top of a rock.

Stats: 15 miles, 5600 ft of gain.
