POOP OUT PUNK OUT LOOP

One of my old favs. A great training hike with a steep ascent. Last time I was here was in 2016.

I invited a small group of hikers to join me on this short but steep hike

To my surprise, I found lots of wildflowers including my favorite Mariposa Lilly's.

The weather was overcast so it turned out to be a great day for hiking.

COQUINA MINE

Coquina mine was a limestone quarry that was abandoned in 1930's. Today you can find the old rigs and a few mine equipment along the trail.

Also, several fossils can be found but I will not disclose their location.

This is a really cool hike. I did a huge loop around Marr ranch and explored some extra side trails.

To my surprise a portion of the trail was filled with yellow and white Mariposa Lilly's, along with a few other wildflowers such as owl clover, poppies, purple sage, Dudlleya and snapdragon.

Stats: 7 miles, 1400 gain

CARRIZO PLAINS

Carrizo Plains National Monument has been on my bucket list for years. I finally had the opportunity to see the superbloom.

It was amazing. The hills were painted with vibrant collors of yellow, orange, purple and magenta.

With no plans in mind, I checked out several sites in and out of the park.

I visited the following areas:

Soda Lake

Wallace creek

7 mile road

Elkhorn Plains

Shell creek
