I spent last weekend in Jacumba Hot Springs at a motel 52 miles from the border with Mexico.
Anyways, the Goat Trestle trail had been on my bucket list for a long time. On Saturday I met two of my friends and started the hike from the DeAnza springs nudist resort. It was closed so we diidn't see anyone hanging out lolIt had rained the night before but it didn't rain during our hike, though it was very cold. I saw a bunch of cacti but the really exciting part was all the tunnels we walked through along the train tracks. According to one of my friends, who had hiked the trail a few years ago, there was more graffiti this time. Also, Tunnels 1 and 3 are closed.
When we reached the trestle, there was a train car with the coolest painting of cowboys on the side of it. It was exciting for me to walk on the tracks of the trestle and look down below me to see how high off the ground I was. This was truly a beautiful hike. It was worth the long journey and one I will never forget.
